I need to replace my ball joints and was wondering what the opinions on installing rodney's lowering ball joints. I have 225/40 18s on the front, any feedback would be appreciated.  Thank you

I had a set and sold them off, so I don't know how they work.  They seemed to be a quality made item, and I'm buying another set when mine need redoing.

Assuming the overall diameter of your tire is very close to stock, I don't see any mechanical reason not to use them.

The theory is sound if not misguided, the strength is less, the installation is straightforward.  All and all it’s a better cheep way to lower (much better than cutting springs.

I guess the only way to find out if it's something i'm going to like is to actually order them and put them on the car.

Tibs,

I bought the lowering ball joints from Gary some time ago and never used them.  If you are interested I'll sell them to you for what I paid Gary.

I was kind of put off by the instructions that said you have to tack weld them and i didn't like the fact that it stated the this would not be an issue since the cars were old and that the ball joints would out last the car. Itook that as meaning, don't worry weld them because you won't be changing them again.

I am also doing a big brake conversion and will decide after if i want to use them or not.

I wouldn't worry too much about the tack welding.  They are a press in fit and the weld is just for extra insurance that they stay in.

I decided to skip the lowering balljoints (mainly on grounds of cost and time) and just cut one coil off each side. That seems to have given me about a 2" drop, which looks about right now.

I still have not put them on, i'm waiting to do the brake upgrade then will try the lowering ball joints.

I'm not sure but will find out after the brakes are done. Will also check the tire clearance with 225/40 18 and 1 inch lowering ball joints.
