Lucky score

Stopped at a wreckers I deal with on Monday and got a great deal on a 99 3800SC.
They got the engine in the spring and before I got there to buy it some one bought the SC of it, so it sat in the whare house till very recently when some fool put the engine outside.
I checked it over and found only a little water got inside so i bought it for $100, brought it home and today tore it down.
None of the water made it past the intake valves so every thing is still ok just pulled the head of the worst side and the cylinders aree fine.
Cleaned it all up, poured in some fresh oil and tomorrow when the gaskets show up i will put it all back together with my spare SC.
So in the end I have a 110,000 km 99 3800SC with only around $250 into it. not too bad a deal, now just need to decide which spare Fiero to put it in. Dan

NICE!
My story is that a couple of weeks ago my garbage man stops me and gets my number. Says he knows this guy from ** (population 27) who has a Fiero he may sell.
Today, one of the bus drivers (different company) is with us shooting the breeze. Out of nowhere he says "anyone know anybody who might want a Fiero cheap?" Everyone looks at me.............. What?.What? Anyway, seems to be the same guy as he lives in the the same spot on the road. Small world! It's an 86 coupe with a bad timing gear. Seems no one would work on the car, and the one guy who said he would died of brain cancer before picking up the car. It's been in the garage for a few years, so I'll need to look at it. Good for parts, if nothing else.

Pulled both heads and every thing was fine so a few new gaskets and bolts, a little cleaning and painting then put on my spare SC and I now have a nice condition 3800SC engine with just over 110,000 km to instal into the 84 Fiero sitting into my drive way. Dan

SE was a trim option. I believe most everything could be ordered anyway, so they tend to be pretty much alike except maybe colour choices of interior bits or other small items. I hink the sport had steelies and the SE got the aluminum rims.
Mechanically everything was available in each.

just wondering but when you say you got a 3.8 for your fiero is it the same engine as the buicks lesaber or from wich car? and if i where to be doing that in the futer does everything have to be changed when putting in a bigger moter, as in suspension or anything else??

Same engine, either the standard or supercharged version. Early 90's are Series 1 3800 and later are Series 2. Enough changes that the S2 is more desirable.
Lots of little changes as well as the engine. Most use the auto that comes with, but you can keep the Fiero standard tranny. (I wouldn't consider an 84 4 speed).
If you get a little more specific with the request, a list can be provided.

3800 auto: Engine, tranny, ecm, harness. Sourced or made= mounts, axles, fuel pump, wiring changes, instruments (maybe), exhaust system, plumbing for coolant.
3800 standard: Engine, ECM, harness. Sourced or made= mounts, fuel pump, wiring changes, instruments (maybe), exhaust system, plumbing for coolant, flywheel, clutch.
Over simplification, but you get the idea. I'm sure I've left things out. Things need to be made or modified. Not all swaps are identical, parts can be found at differing prices, and owners abilities are not the same so cost of swapping depends on many things.
