hi, this is just to let people know that I put a note in "General Chat" re: a possible group purchase of some Jacobs Pro Street Ignition systems; I am also going to post in Mods just so people see it.  It may take a month for a supplier to get stock so we should start thinking about this (and saving?) now.

Any Idea how much it would cost around?

in december they quoted me about $425 Cdn - taxes and shipping would be on top of that. They recommend using their plug wires which I have not included in that amount.  It is a lot but I have been looking and it looks like a really solid system. You might have difficulty with multiple coil packs tho; you should go to their website and check out the applications; I THINK it is primarily for a single coil setup; have no idea if or how it would work with multiple coils; maybe you can use just the ignition box without the Ultra coil but I have no idea.
let me know; if there is good response I will call to negotiate a better price.
I WILL be getting one; I am going to be going thru etesting and am convinced this will help.  I have read some independent testemonials that started off sceptical but ended up being positive on a variety of websites.
It may not help HP by any real serious amount but they help quick, consistent starting, apparently once you start to rev over 3-4K they really shine; (revs build much faster) and they have a great effect on gas mileage which is appealing...

your right, its a single coil pack system, which would make it not usable for my application. I plan on probley going with an MSD DIS sytem, we will see.

hi Rob
just a thought here; the Jacobs guy talked about leaving the stock system in place and piggy-backing this one onto it. I am thinking about a long road trip where something goes wrong and parts are not readily available. ..
By just disconnecting a couple of wires you are back onto the old standby system.....  sort of appealing. You might see if that would be avail for your multipack set up.  For what it is worth Jacobs seems to have a pretty good name for reliability and ruggedness; you may look at their DIS and other systems.
let me know how it works out

The Jacobs website only shows a DIS sytem for Ford vehicles. It may be interchangable but I dont really know. Thats all down the road so to speak anyhow!
