What all are you shielding your cables with? My exhaust is wrapped. The cable had a plastic tube over it, then what looks like a length of 1/4" thick hose and a heat shielding blanket. With all that, I still melted the inner liner. I'm waiting on a replacement cable and don't want it it happen again.

The cable is just getting too close to the exhaust.  Use something to hold it closer to the fire-wall.

Also I find that exhaust wrap isn't enough protection.  You really should use a double walled exhaust header and cross over/down tube.

Your only limitations are set from within, by a lack of vision.  But to have vision alone leaves the process idle.  Ergo, without action your thoughts are worthless.

There wasn't enough room to move the cable over top of the engine.  I replaced it with a new one that for some reason is 1/2" shorter.  So I had to move the bracket up more so the engine wouldn't idle at 2000rpms.  In doing this I left enough slack to be able to have the cable sit over top of the throttle body.
