Okay, I'm a little more awake this morning. Here is a little more of the story.
The set up fee is to cover the work done in digitizing the design so that the machine can 'read' it as stitches. The cost per job is then based on the stitch count in the design. This design works out to 8,000 stitches. Set up fee is a secret.
The design is full size above. It was picked as such so that it would fit on a hat or on the left side of a T-shirt chest and not appear too bulky. I think it would look good on the back of a shirt as well just under the collar in the center.
Dan tells me that once the design is adapted for machine use, we receive it on a disc for club use. It can be scaled to the size desired, but I'm not sure on how the price slides vs size. He did say they did a whole back of a leather jacket with 2 harleys face to face for 200.
The colours I used were more for show. He said that the design gives the different colours a 'number' value which can be changed when run. This means you can have your design all one colour or as above, but say, fiero in purple and the writing in green. Your choice.
If you wanted this on the back and your name on the chest that can be done as they have a bunch of 'off the shelf' fonts which are already set in the machine. You just pick one for your name. That of course is extra and done by the amount of stitches as well.
The club 'owns' the design and can keep it available for members only or release it so anyone can get it done. That is up to us. We can order a set run of x number of items, if we wanted to offer them for sale at shows or such, or do each item on demand. It is very flexible. He has mentioned that he has had quite a few requests for Fiero items since opening (mostly die casts).
Anyway, I guess I'll tell him to go ahead.
If you want a T'shirt, try Wal mart or whatever as I imagine they are cheaper. Get a good quality shirt like Hanes Beefy T, or some Guildan makes. MAKE SURE they are long enough in the body because some are really short. Important for we fat guys. You should probably wash them to get rid of any sizing or chemicals in them.
