Instead of sitting back and shooting the breeze or dicking around with new blinker fluid reservoirs...... I hear somebody has gotten their new motor/wiring and the the time and energy to shove it into a Fiero. Go...Dan....Go!!!

Shh I'm being quiet now. But an update can't hurt. Had to return the tranny as it was the wrong one so really just got started this afternoon. Old motor and tranny removed, rear craddle empty awaiting new implant after major cleaning. Shell needing some new metal here and there will weld up tomorrow. 3800SC awaiting tranny bolt up and wiring near half done, will finnish once bolted to frame so proper locations and lengths can be calculated. Basically things going well so far. Will have to go buy some film for my camera tomorrow and start taking some pictures. Now time for a hot bath and a good night sleep. Shhhhhhh I will be quiet again now.

:'(It never fails just when things are going good something has to happen. Upon a full inspection major rust rotting right through the rear cradle is found. Oh well you can't let a little thing like this get you down so tomorrow its off to the wreckers for a good frame then back to work. Wiring now 90% complete, tranny attached, mounts installed on engine awaiting good frame. Interior floor drain plugs replaced and interior installed with all available options wiring installed. Thats it for now. Dan

It has been a buisy day found a good frame at wreckers in Hastings, removed it then brought it home. Installed new motor mounts, modded tranny mounts and rigged up a lower mounting alternator bracket. Had motor fully mounted into craddle then removed many times till mounts perfect. Tomorrow time to sand blast frame, paint and install power train for last time, then finnish wiring. Found good muffler in a 2000 Grand Am that has nice possibilities will have to investigate further. Now time for bed. Dan

Work has resumed but at a bit slower a pace for now. All welding repairs on shell completed, extra braces added and engine, tranny and craddle fully bolted into place. Looks real pretty sitting in there. Had to remove deck lid hinge springs and part of pass side hinge bracket but she fits none the less. Still have a bit of wiring left and have to find or make some axle shafts. Then run wires for front battery instal. Hopefully tomorrow will go even better than today. Dan

Back at it after a few days off. Wiring is now done and the battery installed in front only things left is one axle shaft (may have to have one made or shortened) and the exhaust system. So if all goes well will start her up this week and see how well she works. Ended up mounting PCM in whats left of my trunk, did not want to block off possible vent location at site of old battery mount. Am keeping lots of notes and taking lots of pictures if any one wants copies let me know once I'm done. At this time I have complete wiring diagrams for the 98 Bonneville and the 98 Park Avenue both with 3800SC's. Have also found different types of useful mounts in different years of cars. Dan

Holy crap it runs or at least it started and I let it run for about fifteen minutes then shut her off. Only things left is run new tranny lines all the way up front to the tranny cooler and then do the exhaust and seal the trunk floor. After that its off to be safety checked and E-tested. Hopefully it passes both. Have documented most of this mod just incase I'm ever foolish enough to try it again. Dan

SWEET!!!!!! You certainly made record time, Dan. I'd be interested in your documentation. Also I'd love to find out what the e-test guys do with it. I really don't want to get labelled as a 'hot rod' at test time, if possible. Mine is still at the same point, no clutch in sight and the flywheel is off at the machinist. I think I'll also run out the back to the trunk for the ecm, as I can use the room in the cabin. I took the heat shields off the manifold and crossover and have wrapped them with thermotec instead. Still dreaming and not driving.....boo hoo!
