If you're near Peterborough, talk to 2ML67--there's an '88 SE in a boneyard not far from him with (I think) reasonable mileage on it.

As for doing "it" without dropping the engine???   Shocked

If as you say your block has a big hole in it, unless you have remarkable telekinetic abilities I doubt that you can repair it in-car.

You could always use this as an excuse to drop in something bigger...   Grin

Why bother with a 2.5 when a 3.8SC looks so much nicer in there. Dan

The 4.3 can fit in the fiero no problem but you have to make an adapter plate to bolt up to your transmission plus some new engine mounts. But once you have it in, you'll enjoy the car even more. President of the GTA Fiero Club did this swamp in his 86 2M4(.3) Cheesy

The 4.3 looks nice but why use a mini van motor when you can use a GTP engine. Nothing looks better than a supercharger. Besides the only 4.3 I ever had I threw away and replaced with a 5.7 now thats an engine. But to each his own and I have seen the 4.3 car in person and I think it is a very nice car. Dan

this all started because someone wants a 2.5........ Undecided  Huh?  Wow; we are into swaps!!
but as for the 4.3; I have had a few; they are typically workhorse engines and not fancy, but if you remember that they are sawed off 350's then that might make the light bulb come on...... you would need a lot of the Archie stuff; I traded an email or two with him about it as it is more or less the same motor as the 350..... smaller but lighter too.  I watched a firebird in roadrace competition with a 4.3 up against vettes and turbo porsches etc; with the lighter front end he was very competitive and figured he was making about 500 to 550 hp (running in "A" class at the time).
NOW - that was NOT a cheap motor, but the technology is already proven (sbc; 350) and the parts are available.
just an extra bit of info...........  fun to bench race when you are glued to a bench......... Undecided  Roll Eyes

Sentinel how can you do that?  Smiley

Smiley  I doubt what Sentinel meant was to take the Iron Duke and transform it into a Super Duty.  I think he meant replace your 2.5L Iron Duke with the 2.5L Super Duty.

The SD4 is a bad little engine.  Rumours of 400+ hp out of that little monster.  Big bucks though!

The Super Duty 2.5 is a racing engine , unless you have about $15K USD to part with, then one hell of a sleeper. Shocked
