I need some 0-100 (KM/H) times and a few 1/4 mile times. Not 1/8th mile. Nobody from the Prelude club runs the 8th because you dont stay in V-Tec for any reasonable length of time!

My prelude is a 1987 SI, 2.0L, SOHC 12V, FF, 5spd mani, 8K RedLine non-Vtec . I can make it down the 1/4 at a respectable 16.7 keeping in mind I have 300 000+ kms on the car!

The stock Gen-5's (new ones) with V-Tec (Type-SH) run about mid to low 14's in the 1/4.

Our fastest prelude is running low 12's. He has extensive head work done, cams, valves, flywheel, clutch and a V-AFC (controlls when V-Tec kicks in and also controls A/F mixture).

The Fastest I have seen a prelude run was my year (1987) and he was running 9's. He was running almost pure NOS and forged everything on a NON-Vtec 2.0L bore to 2.2!

SO...can the Fiero Keep up, not at all or scortch us hard core!

P.S> If I could change one thing about my prelude....I would make it RWD!

Here are some times from a meeting of 3 at St Thomas 1/4 mi.
Her86GT is Becky, hubby Pete is a tech in London at a GM dealer.  It is a stock 4.9 with added turbo.
Rockcrawl is Jon Lagler from the US, one of the swap gurus, he rarely has anything stock at the end of a job.

These are still street cars and not on the bottle. Anyone can 'cheat' that way if you don't care if the motor lasts.

Her86GT with 4.9 stock with 5 psi boost (turbo)

The fastest 6 cyl is probably FieroX 3800 s/c nowwhere near stock and presently broken.  Roll Eyes at 11:63 and there is an 11:9 with a 3800 s/c rebody (3400 lbs)
At least one v-8 is in the 10's and there are a lot of fast sbc's out there.
One guy had done 11:9 with a 3.1 turbo/nitrous car.

Anyway lots of mid to low 13's with a 3800.  The Fiero ain't really light at 2700 lbs stock (the doors weigh 96 lbs)

The limiting factor seems to be the clutch.  Pain in the @ss to change so you baby it or lose it.  According to Dan autos seem to have trouble with axles  Grin  BTW he is using 1/8 mile cause he's in Belleville and has no nearby track.  Ask for a ride if you get a chance.

NICE...good to hear that those things rip!

AKA...yours is next!

Why do you think NOS is cheating? Its just a diff. fuel. If you use just a little its ok! A Honda can take a 75 shot all day but it needs it....no torque!

You do know what N.O.S. stands for, don't you?

Not Overly Smart.   Wink

Most folks I've talked to (including myself) who consider NOS to be cheating, do so is because it's cheap, quick, and easy.  Bolting on a NOS system generally doesn't require the skill, knowledge, or finesse that a thorough engine build does.

I have other, less politically correct opinions of NOS, but all they ever do is inflame those who like the stuff, and I'm not interested in starting a pissing contest.   Roll Eyes

Here is some info I pulled off the net.   It shows the stock performance of various models.  As you can see there was some trouble in 88 when they added some reinforcement to the car.  Otherwise a desirable year, but I have to put mine on a diet.  The Formula is a GT with the coup fascia (ie. lighter).

1984 SE,          2.5L, 0-60: 10.9, 1/4mile 18.1
1984 Pacecar,  2.7L, 0-60: 6.3, 1/4mile 14.7
1985 2M6,       2.8L, 0-60: 6.9, 1/4mile 15.2
1986 GT,          2.8L, 0-60: 7.1, 1/4mile 15.0
1988 Formula, 2.8L, 0-60: 6.9, 1/4mile 15.4
1988 GT,          2.8L, 0-60: 7.8, 1/4mile 16.0

Your only limitations are set from within, by a lack of vision.  But to have vision alone leaves the process idle.  Ergo, without action your thoughts are worthless.

BTW still incomplete, but I expect my car to run in the low 12’s, and that’s with a 4,6 naturally aspirated engine.  No mods other than the computer programming to maximize the fuel tables.  Well, I mean no mods to the engine itself, that doesn’t take into consideration that the engine isn’t from a Fiero in the first place.
